Front Logic Display Kit - June 26, 2006
from
Jason Kotecki & Ben Lewitt

Amount: $65.00 USD (Set of 2)

The Front Logic Display Kit came in the mail today in a padded envelope, complete with instructions. I am a little intimidated by this kit because when it comes to electronics, I suck!

I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I will give it a shot.  What the hey, it's only $65.00 and I if it fries I can hopefully get another in a year or so.  I am sure that this is a great kit and that if I do it right, will be nothing less than spectacular!

Description: "Logic Display" is one of three logic displays mounted on the "Dome".  Two small displays in the front of the "dome" and a longer rectangular shaped display in the back.

Aluminum Holoprojectors - June 20, 2006
from Scott Powers

Amount: $255.00 USD (Set of 3)

WOW!

The Aluminum Holoprojectors were delivered via USPS Priority Mail on June 20, 2006 and...WOW!

These things are a pure adrenaline rush for me!  I had seen many pictures of Scott Power's Aluminum Holoprojectors, but until you see these things in person...WOW!

Now that I have wiped the drool from my mouth, I am amazed at the amount of detail that went into the holoprojectors.  I mean I knew that they were several pieces that made up the holoprojectors, but just picking them up and moving the pieces effortlessly is something else.  Everything fits together and comes apart with ease.  It's hard to even imagine how any machine could have made these, but there it is.  I love the engraved R2 Builders Club logo into the back screw cap.  I am so glad that I bought these several months ago and they are definitely worth the money and then some.

Thank you Scott for such an amazing piece of art...WOW!

Description: "Holoprojector" are mounted in the "Dome" and three (3) locations; one in the front, one in the back, and another on the top of the "Dome".

Aluminum Super Dome - February 6, 2006
by R & J

Amount: $415.00 USD

I ordered my R&J Super Dome on Friday afternoon and it came in the mail Monday morning; that was some fast delivery!  I can't express enough my appreciation to Ron Barklay and Jason Smith for their creation of this fine piece of art.

It is made up of 2 layers of .040 spun aluminum, making it the correct thickness of .080.  What does that all mean; it's very durable once the two layers are put together.  All the panels are laser cut with tiny tabs to hold them in place.  All I have to do is cut the tabs myself and "ta-da" their free!  Then just file down the tabs flush and the rest should be cake.  Having the panels already cut for me is definitely worth it because it saves me time to working on other things.  I have decided to add hinges to most of the panels and cut the panel sections out of the inner layers with a small "lip" so the outer panels won't fall in.

It cost me $415.00 and a whole lot of "ass-kissing" to get a blessing from my wife, but she's an incredible woman and I'm a very lucky man.  These Super Domes are a limited run lasting for a short time before another run becomes available.  For more information about this the R&J Super Dome, head over to Astromech.net and check out "Parts Listing" section.  There is also a tutorial by Jerry Greene on finishing the R&J Super Dome.

There is one small issue with the dome in that the outer dome doesn't fit over the inner dome flush.  There is a small gap between the two layers.  I have read that the fix for this is to simple cut the inner dome in the middle and then glue the two halves inside the outer dome.

Description: "Dome" an spherical dome shape head which fits on top of the "Body".
