Aluminum Utility Arms - September 08, 2006
from Daniel Deutsch

Amount: $148.00 USD (Per Set)

These came just 3 days after I sent payment via Paypal.  They came very well packaged and in a really nice bubble wrap envelope!

You can tell that these aluminum utility arms are made using an EDM Wire Cutter which is different from other parts that MRobot offers, but the quality is still well maintained.  It is almost like they were formed into shape instead of being cut.

These bad boys also have some weight to them, so be careful not to drop one of these on your foot.  These also have the pre-drilled holes for the hinge pins on the JAG Aluminum Frame.

You can visit DroidStuff.com for more wonderful Aluminum R2 Parts.

Front Logic Display Kit - July 26, 2006 (UPDATE!)
from Jason Kotecki & Ben Lewitt

Amount: $65.00 USD (Set of 2)

IT WORKS!  I can't believe the Front Logic Display DIY Kit works!  Don't get me wrong, the kit itself is excellent, but my electronic skills are scary!  I am totally shocked that I was able to solder all those components without frying or burning something.  This is the first DIY Electrical Kit that I have actually gotten to work and I am still speechless.  It must have been those very colorful illustrations that comes with the kit, it is incredible for me to get one of these right, but two?!!  IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

Aluminum Power Couplers - July 26, 2006
from Michael McMaster

Amount: $128.00 USD (Set of 2)

These were waiting for me on the door step when I got home this afternoon.  The Aluminum Power Couplers from Michael McMaster.

The Aluminum Power Couplers are absolutely stunning as if they would be anything less than perfect coming from Michael McMaster.  I ordered these from Michael back on May 11, 2006; not a bad turn around time.  I especially like how the surround detail is included.  Before you had to order the Power Couplers and then get the Power Coupler detail inserts seperately.  The four (4) inner tabs are screwed in from the back side and can be easily removed for painting the inner details.  I am totally satisfied with the Aluminum Power Couplers and can't wait to see what Mike will offer next...hint, hint!

Aluminum JAG Frame - June 30, 2006
from Jerry Greene

Amount: $800.00 USD

I really lucked out on the Aluminum JAG Frame for two reasons; first I didn't realize that Jerry might not be making these wonderful frames ever again, and secondly my wife for understanding.

I thought that if I didn't get in on Jerry's latest run of Aluminum Frames, that I would just wait for the next time.  I was very sad to hear that Jerry might not be doing any more frames due to the fact that there are so many parts involved and to many headaches.

Luckily for me, Jerry had just enough spare parts to complete one more Aluminum JAG Frame kit.  I was very fortunate to get my hands on this extraordinary piece of engineering.  The Aluminum JAG Frame is very well thought out and extremely strong.  The instructions for putting the frame together was very well illustrated which made putting it together a breeze.

Of course I had to see what it would look like with the Dome and Skins on it, just didn't take any pictures.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to purchase the Aluminum JAG Frame and even more fortunate to have such an incredible wife who allows me to build my childhood dream.

Front Logic Display Kit - June 26, 2006
from Jason Kotecki & Ben Lewitt

Amount: $65.00 USD (Set of 2)

The Front Logic Display Kit came in the mail today in a padded envelope, complete with instructions. I am a little intimidated by this kit because when it comes to electronics, I suck!

I may have bitten off more than I can chew, but I will give it a shot.  What the hey, it's only $65.00 and I if it fries I can hopefully get another in a year or so.  I am sure that this is a great kit and that if I do it right, will be nothing less than spectacular!

Aluminum Holoprojectors - June 20, 2006
from Scott Powers

Amount: $255.00 USD (Set of 3)

WOW!

The Aluminum Holoprojectors were delivered via USPS Priority Mail on June 20, 2006 and...WOW!

These things are a pure adrenaline rush for me!  I had seen many pictures of Scott Power's Aluminum Holoprojectors, but until you see these things in person...WOW!

Now that I have wiped the drool from my mouth, I am amazed at the amount of detail that went into the holoprojectors.  I mean I knew that they were several pieces that made up the holoprojectors, but just picking them up and moving the pieces effortlessly is something else.  Everything fits together and comes apart with ease.  It's hard to even imagine how any machine could have made these, but there it is.  I love the engraved R2 Builders Club logo into the back screw cap.  I am so glad that I bought these several months ago and they are definitely worth the money and then some.

Thank you Scott for such an amazing piece of art...WOW!

Steel Center Foot - June 16, 2006
by Jerry Greene

Amount: $150.00 USD

The very anticipated Steel Center Foot from Jerry Greene was delivered on June 16, 2006 while I was out of town.  I was lucky that my neighbor brought it inside the house while feeding the dog as it rained really hard on that night and the following night.

Unlike the other parts that I have purchased, this one is made entirely of steel instead of aluminum.  This is very understandable since a lot of weight will be pressing down on it.  It is also pretty heavy compared to the aluminum parts that I have purchased; again understandable.  I don't mind that the center foot is made heavy because it will offset the weight at the top of R2 since you don't want a top heavy droid.

I have been told that rust will begin to form on the the steel foot unless I put a coat of primer on it, but because I want to powder coat it, I may need to vacuum seal it from the air.

I am very impressed  with the steel center foot and look forward to more quality items from Jerry Greene.

Aluminum Shoulder Hubs - June 2, 2006
by Jason Smith

Amount: $61.00 USD (Per Set)

This set of "Shoulder Hubs" were delivered on June 2, 2006 and came with the "Booster Covers" that I ordered from Jason Smith.  Again I am amazed at the detail and how well everything fits together.  From order to delivery was also very fast compared normal runs.

These Shoulder Hubs were a little cheaper because I ordered them with the Booster Covers, which made this a bargain that I couldn't pass up.  I look forward to more runs from Jason in the future.

Aluminum Top/Bottom Vent Inserts - May 15, 2006
from Dave Everett

Amount: $90.00 USD (Per Set)

I was beginning to think that these Aluminum Top/Bottom Vent Inserts might have been lost in the mail since they come from Dave Everett in the far away "Land Down Under", but it was just me being impatient as usual.

As I would have expected, these Aluminum Top/Bottom Vent Inserts are incredible!  They fit together perfectly as if by some magical force had a hand in it's creation.  Dave has done an excellent job producing these vents inserts.  I did a test fit and everything fits with very little effort and not gap problems.  These Aluminum Top/Bottom Vent Inserts are very much worth the money.

Aluminum Horseshoes w/Shims - May 12, 2006
by Jason Smith

Amount: $215.00 USD (Per Set)

This is absolutely the fastest R2-D2 part order that I have ever received with a turnaround time of 3 days from purchase via Paypal to delivery via USPS Priority Mail.  Now that is what I call service!

Next to the R&J Super Dome, this is one of my favorite pieces yet.  I am amazed at the detail and precision that went into these Horseshoes.  It also has some weight to it.  It is one of the heaviest pieces that I have purchased.  The really nice thing that I love about these Horseshoes is that the Aluminum Shoulder Hydraulics and Buttons attach perfectly in the predrilled holes which are already threaded.  All I had to do is screw them in and that's it!  The Horseshoes and Shims are a little pricey, but considering the turnaround time and amazing detail and compatibility with the Aluminum Shoulder Hydraulics and Buttons, definitely worth the extra money and then some!

Aluminum Front and Rear Logic Surrounds - May 09, 2006
from Wayne Orr

Amount: $98.00 USD (Per Set)

Lookie, Lookie what meesa get tadday!  These Aluminum Front and Rear Logic Surrounds were delivered to my door via USPS Priority Mail.  Only one day to get here which is no big surprise since Wayne and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

These Logic Surrounds look great!  As if Wayne would make anything less; these are definitely worth the money and more!

Aluminum 17.5" Slimline Lazy Susan - May 06, 2006
from Rockler Woodworking and Hardware

Amount: $49.00 USD

I was able to pick this Aluminum 17.5" Slimline Lazy Susan up for my local Rockler Woodworking and Hardware Store in Arlington, TX.

They were having a Spring Sale, but unfortunately the Lazy Susan wasn't part of the sale.  Still it was nice to be able to see it and give it a whirl before buying it.  I was surprised at how quite and easy it was to turn.  This thing is packed with ball bearings and very sturdy.  Now all I need is a frame to attach it too.

Since this part attaches to the frame and dome, there is no reference to it in the Parts Lingo Chart.  However you can go to the Rockler website and check out the details.  Part # 12451.

Aluminum Leg Struts - April 28, 2006
by Michael McMaster

Amount: $65.00 USD (Per Set)

I ordered these from Michael McMaster on February 22, 2006. The Aluminum Leg Struts came in mail via USPS Priority and they look absolutely perfect.

I thought that the Leg Struts were only one piece.  I didn't realize there was more to it and that it actually comes in separate pieces. These are made up of three separate pieces that can be disassembled and reassembled very easily. The struts are adjustable in length for the builders preference.  They are definitely worth the money!

This is the first time I have bought anything from Michael McMaster and with the quality that went into these Struts, I hope it won't be the last.  I look forward to Michael's next product.
